It is that time of year when I feel fed up of summer clothes, I am pining for a wardrobe refresh and the weather is so hit and miss that I just struggle getting dressed in the morning. Therefore, I am already starting to think about the new season, which trends I am going to buy into and how to style existing pieces for this transitional period.

This dress recently featured in an ASOS HAUL VIDEO and when styling it up, it made me think about how it is possible to wear florals in autumn. Of course, we all inevitably associate floral print with summer - with cute short sleeve blouse, wedding appropriate tea dress and bold embroidery on jeans - and although traditionally florals are very girly, I think it is possible to incorporate this print into our minimal/grunge/boyish wardrobes.

As this dress is not head to toe covered in florals and is dominated by a black background, it is easy to avoid a super feminine look. Today I have styled it simply with a boxy, tailored suede shirt/jacket whose shape is a nice contrast to the floaty shape of this long-sleeved tea dress and whose pastel colour goes well with the pink flowers. Chunky boots were a must for this outfit so I chose my black chelsea boots to keep the tough, grunge vibe. This dress is perfect for AW16 because grunge is definitely back and also it has that lovely ruffle detailing on the sleeves which is still going to be massive this season.

What pieces are you adding to your autumnal wardrobe? Do you have any tips for wearing florals for AW16?
