Hello there!

I apologise for my mini hiatus last week - often I take a little break when I am feeling uninspired but that is not the reason this time. This time, time is the reason (how many times can I say time?!) and that I have not enough of it. I am currently writing this post on the bus home from work after a 10 hour shift. Since December I have been juggling a marketing internship and my new role at the vintage shop and I feel that my work/life/blog balance - or imbalance - has finally caught up with me as I mentioned in a recent INSTAGRAM POST. 

It's frustrating because I am feeling really inspired and I often spend some of the weekend creating content, only to not have the time to edit and post it during the week. So writing posts on the bus might have to be the answer for now but today I'm sharing some photos with you that I had been thinking about for a long time and finally shot this weekend. 

As soon as I moved to Canada, I knew I would struggle with fashion blogging in winter and even though the temperatures have been quite mild recently, I still wanted to try shooting indoors for change - and for the comfort! These photos were taken at BOUTIQUE EVA B - the craziest, most interesting vintage shop I have ever been in. Amongst the (mostly organised) mess, there are some special corners that I knew would lend themselves perfectly to shooting outfits photos, including this awesomely retro wall of old VHS cases. I took to PINTEREST for inspiration for the outfit and this editorial GEEK CHIC photo and this artificially lit RETRO SUPERMARKET SHOOT confirmed my vision that primary colours and a 60/70s silhouette would go well in this setting. 

It certainly was a challenge to shoot indoors (on a dull day) with a mix of natural and artificial light but I think it adds to the aesthetic to the photos and it is the kind of glow I was hoping to achieve. They are certainly not perfect photos but they are pretty good for a first try and I think it's good to also show experimentation on here - and not just the glossy stuff - because I am damn pleased with the result. 

The outfit is simple - I layered a bright red turtleneck (I've recently rediscovered my love for red) under these blue denim kick flare dungarees that I have worn to death on and offline since I got them over a year ago, finishing off the look with a patterned neckscarf which really brings the primary colours together. In an ideal world, those white NIKE CORTEZ with the red tick would have been my footwear of choice but alas, I have not got round to purchasing them yet so I opted Converse instead and they compliment the boyish look perfectly.

What A Bargain!

It is no secret that I love a good bargain. While some people may get that rush when spending hundreds or thousands on that must-have designer piece, I get my kicks finding that hidden, on-trend gem for a tiny price in vintage shops, outlet stores or online sales. Sure, it requires patience, perseverance and a good eye but the reward is so much sweeter when you've put the effort in.

So, how much do you think this whole outfit cost? For some wool lined leather boots, a blue faux fur coat, ripped knee jeans and a statement turtleneck? £200? £300? More? I bet you are not even close...this whole look cost me approximately £55. What a bargain, eh? And what's more, this outfit looks like it could have come right off the high street but - with the exception of the ASOS jeans, which were only £13! - all these items come from some hard-earned thrifting.

Today I'm mixing some new purchases with some old favourites. You guys have seen this pastel blue teddy bear faux fur coat before but that will not stop me from wearing it with different outfits because it is surprisingly versatile! Faux fur seems to get more massive and even weirder each year and that is ok with me because I am always ready to whip this baby out. The pastel blue colour goes perfectly with my new beanie, which was thrifted in its current state with that net veil and bow on top. Of course I will never know if the beanie was originally made like that or if it's previous owner got all DIY on her hat but that is part of the beauty of buying secondhand - you can only guess its story. I absolutely love how this beanie has been accessorised as it is such a simple way of adding that extra something weird and statement to an outfit.

I kept the rest of the look simple for a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring a new area of Montreal. As I mentioned above, the jeans are from the ASOS January sales and they are probably the comfiest jeans I own. Their mid rise fit looks perfect with the black turtleneck with the most amazing bell sleeves and ruffle hem - I was very chuffed with this vintage shop find and it was love at first sight with this bang on trend top. Finally, lets talk about my boots, which have already featured in a couple of blog posts but have not yet been given the time they deserve. I bought these boots back in summer at the Clarks Village outlet store in Somerset for just £25 with the thought that wool lined leather boots would be great for a Montreal winter - and I was right. They are so comfy and snuggly that I am sure you will seeing a lot more of them this season.

Are you a bargain hunter? What has been your best vintage shop find?

Ce n'est pas un secret que j'aime une bonne affaire. Il y a des gens qui se sentent un accès de joie en dépensant des cents ou des milles sur une pièce de marque must-have. Cependant, mon kiff à moi, c'est de fouiller dans des friperies, aux dépôt d'usine et dans les soldes en ligne pour trouver LA pièce, le bijou super tendance pour un tout petit prix. Bien sûr qu'il prend de la patience, de la persévérance et il faut avoir l'oeil pour la mode mais il vaut la peine quand le prix est si délicieux.

Alors, c'est à vous de deviner maintenant - combien pensez-vous que cette tenue entière m'a coûtée? Pour des bottes en cuir avec une doublure en laine, un manteau en fausse fourrure bleu pastel, un jean déchiré et un col roulé avec des manches en cloches...200€? 300€? Encore plus? Je parie que vous n'êtes même pas proche car ce look total m'a coûté environ 60€. Quelle bonne affaire, non? En plus, cette tenue est vraiment à la mode sans avoir coûté si cher que si j'aurait l'acheter à neuf.

Le look d'aujourd'hui mélange des nouveaux achats avec des vieilles pièces préférées. Vous avez déjà vu ce manteau en fausse fourrure bleue mais je n'arrêterai pas à le porter! Il me semble que la fausse fourrure devient de plus en plus populaire et bizarre avec chaque nouvelle saison et cela me va quand j'ai déjà ce manteau tellement magnifique. La couleur bleue pastel du manteau va super bien avec mon nouveau bonnet que j'ai acheté comme ça avec le voile à filet et le nœud, dans une friperie. Je ne saurai jamais si le bonnet était fabriqué comme ça ou si sa propriétaire précédente l'a fait mais cela est la beauté de l'occasion - on ne peut que deviner l'histoire d'une pièce. J'aime bien comment ce bonnet a été accessoirisé car il est une façon simple d'ajouter quelque chose d'extra et marrant à une tenue.

La reste du look est simple pour un bel après-midi de dimanche en explorant un nouveau quartier de Montréal. Comme j'ai déjà mentionné, ce jean vient des soldes d'ASOS en janvier et il est probablement le jean le plus confortable que j'ai. Sa taille à mi-hauteur va super bien avec ce col roulé noir avec des manches à cloches et son ourlet de ruches - je suis trop contente avec cette trouvaille de friperie qui est super tendance. Pour finir, il faut qu'on parle de mes bottes que vous aurez déjà vu dans d'autres postes. Je les ai achetés en été au dépôt d'usine de Clarks en pensant que sa doublure en laine serait parfaite pour l'hiver à Montréal - et j'avais raison. Ils sont super confortables and chauds que je suis sûr que vous allez les voir beaucoup cette saison.

A Real Vintage Floral Tea Dress

I don't know about you guys but I am self-confessed hoarder. Yep, my cupboards are full, my drawers are full and there are boxes and boxes of stuff in my dad's attic and basement that he has been begging for me to sort out. I am so so bad at throwing stuff out, thinking 'maybe that will fit me again one day' or 'maybe I can sell that' or even 'maybe my kids will like that'. 

However, the hoarder in me felt very smug when I came across my mum's lovely Laura Ashley dress from over thirty years ago in one of my clothes bags in my dad's attic. My vintage-obsessed teenage self had rescued it from the depths of our childhood "dressing-up box", made the hem shorter and kept it among with some other gems. I had completely forgotten about it and I am certainly now giving it a new lease of life.

I do not wear super pretty dresses that often but I knew it would be easy to make this one a bit more 'me'. While it is still summer(ish), I'm wearing my silver boots (of course) and a black choker to add even more to the already interesting square-shaped neckline. Come autumn, I think this dress will look great with some clashing fishnet tights, black biker boots and a leather jacket.

So kids, hoarding sometimes can pay off. Sure, when you're knee deep in all your old school books it's a different story but finding an old clothing gem that slots right into your wardrobe makes it all worthwhile. 

Je suis une entasseuse compulsive complètement - je ne sais pas si vous êtes pareil?! J'avoue que mes placards sont pleins, mes tiroirs sont pleins et il y a trop de boîtes qui contiennent mes affaires dans le grenier et la cave de mon père - il me demande depuis longtemps de trier mes affaires. Je suis terrible à jeter des choses, je pense toujours 'peut-être je rentrai dedans ceci à l'avenir' ou 'peut-être je peux vendre ceci' ou même 'peut-être mes enfants aimeront ça'.

Cependant, j'étais super contente d'être une entasseuse compulsive quand j'ai trouvé cette robe Laura Ashley que ma mère portait il y a trente ans! Quand j'étais adolescente, j'ai sauvé cette robe de notre boîte de déguisement d'enfance, raccourci l'ourlet et la gardé parmi d'autres pièces géniales. Je l'avais oubliée complètement mais maintenant je la donne un nouveau souffle.

Je ne porte pas des robes super féminines très souvent mais j'ai su que ce serait facile de mettre celle-ci dans ma propre façon. Vu qu'il est été (plus ou moins!), je la porte avec mes bottines argentées (bien-sûr) et un ras-de-cou noir pour ajouter encore plus au décolleté carré très intéressant. En automne, je pense que la robe ira super bien avec des collants résilles, des bottines noires et un perfecto. 

Donc, la manie du stockage marche des fois! Je vous avoue que ce n'est pas génial quand vous avez plein de vieux livres d'école à trier ou jeter mais quand vous trouvez une pièce spéciale comme celle-ci, il vaut la peine.

Forgotten Favourites: Suede Bomber Jacket

Having lived abroad in Paris and Barcelona for the past three years, of course there were clothes, although beautiful, that did not make the cut to come with me and my two suitcases. Now I am back in Bristol for an extended stay and have been reunited with my overflowing wardrobe and some forgotten favourites.

So I thought it would be fun to dust off some of these items and do a little series of outfit posts featuring my forgotten favourites. Of course many of these items will no longer be available or are vintage and although some of you may find this frustrating, I hope that you will find some inspiration and I will always try to link some similar items if possible.

Right so now that admin is out of the way, we can all start admiring this amazing suede bomber jacket. It is no secret that both suede and bomber jackets are big news this season so I am pretty chuffed that I already have both trends covered with this beaut. I bought this bomber a couple of years ago in the vintage shop where I used to work in Paris and what made me fall in love with it is its unusual pink tint to the brown suede. It is the perfect jacket for this strange British summer weather we are having and here I have let it do all the talking by just wearing it over a simple black turtleneck and skinny jeans. Finished off with these old New Look loafers, which are another forgotten favourite and are also bang on trend. Huns, it always pays off to hoard clothes.

I urge you all to delve in the depths of your wardrobes to find your forgotten favourites that may be just what you are looking for right now. Happy rummaging!

Pendant trois j'ai habité à l'étranger - Paris et puis Barcelone - du coup il y avait des vêtements que je ne pouvais pas amener avec moi dans mes deux valises. Maintenant, je suis chez moi à Bristol pour quelques semaines et je suis super contente d'être réuni avec mon placard plein à craquer et des pièces favorites mais oubliées.

Donc, je veux vous montrer ces pièces oubliées dans une petite série de tenues. Je vous avoue qu'il y aura des pièces qui ne sont plus disponible ou qui sont vintage et même si cela vous frustre, j'espère que vous trouverez de l'inspiration et je essayerai de lier des articles similaires.

Alors, j'ai fini ma déclaration et nous pouvons commencer à admirer ce bomber en daim trop beau. Ce n'est pas un secret que des bombers et du daim sont toujours super tendance cette saison du coup je suis tellement contente que j'ai déjà ce bomber magnifique pour satisfaire ces deux tendances. J'ai acheté ce bomber il y a deux ans au magasin où je travaillais à Paris. La raison pour laquelle je suis tombée amoureuse de ce bomber est le ton un peu rose de sa couleur marron. Il est juste parfait pour porter pendant ce temps d'été bizarre qu'on a en Angleterre en ce moment et aujourd'hui je ne veux pas détourner l'attention du bomber du coup je le porte simplement sur un haut à col roulé et un jean skinny. J'ai fini le look en mettant des mocassins vieux de New Look qui sont des chaussures oubliées mais qui sont aussi super tendances. Mes choux, il vaut le coup d'accumuler!

Maintenant, je vous encourage de fouiller dans vos placards pour trouver vos pièces oubliées qui pourraient être aussi des choses que vous cherchez! Bon fouillis!

Seventies Day to Night Outfit

Even though this outfit was shot in a beautiful and quaint street in Barcelona, I actually want to talk about how this outfit is the perfect day to night outfit for the colder climates that I am returning to. If you have read my recent LIFE UPDATE post or watched yesterday's VLOG OF MY LAST TWO WEEKS IN BARCELONA, you will know that I am moving back to Bristol tonight (hopefully just for a few weeks).

After weeks of not having to cover up my tanned legs, even in the evening, this is what I wore on Saturday night after a massive storm had cleared Barcelona's hot climate. It got me thinking that this is the kind of outfit that I will have to get used to wearing once I am back on British soil - not that it's a chore because I am loving this seventies look but you know, you cannot beat getting your pins out! This is a great day to night outfit without any effort thanks to the combination of a cute frilly blouse with relaxed fit denim dungarees. Come nightfall, just remove the sunglasses (yep, new Ray Ban purchase alert!), pop on some red lippy and a leather jacket and you are good to go.

What are your tips for a day to night outfit?

Je vous avoue que nous avons shooté ce look dans une belle rue pittoresque dans Barcelona mais je veux vous parler du fait que cette tenue sera parfaite pendant la journée et la soirée dans des climats plus froids dans lesquels je me trouverai très bientôt. Si vous avez lu ma poste NOUVELLE DE VIE ou vous avez regardé mon vlog d'hier de MES DEUX DERNIERE SEMAINES A BARCELONE, vous saurez que je rentre à Bristol ce soir (j'espère que pour quelques semaines).

Après quelques semaines de pouvoir porter des jambes nus (et bronzés), même le soir, voilà la tenue que j'ai porté ce samedi soir après un grand orage qui a rafraîchi le climat chaud de Barcelone. J'imagine que je porterai ce genre de look beaucoup en Angleterre - je ne plains pas parce que j'adore cet outfit seventies mais j'aime plus porter des jambes nus! Cette tenue est facile à porter de la journée à la soirée, sans effort, grâce à la combinaison du chemisier romantique avec une salopette en jean. Dès qu'il fait nuit, on enlève des lunettes de soleil (oui, c'est des nouvelles Ray Ban!), on ajoute du rouge à lèvres rouge et un perfecto et voilà!

Grunge Yellow

When we think of typical grunge outfit, it certainly does not consist of a pleats, flatform espadrilles or the colour yellow. However, these are all massive trends this season and as the nineties revival is still rocking out, I thought I would try to make yellow grunge.

I think this outfit really works and that is thanks to the yellow thread running through the tartan, which really brings the look together. This is also the reason that I first thought to pair this super cute yellow tee with pleated detailing from Zara with my beloved grunge-meets-sixties A-line "skort". The dark green sections and tartan pattern of the skort bring the classic grunge elements to the outfit and contrast perfecting with the pop of yellow while adding that extra edge that a simple black skirt just would not quite have done.

I have to admit that I almost threw on my trusty DMs to make sure that the outfit was "grunge enough" but today I am breaking the rules and wearing my super summery yellow (again) espadrilles. Besides, the nineties black choker and dark nude lip certainly make up for the girly shoe choice.

What do you think of grunge yellow? Do you like the espadrilles or would you have chosen Dr Martens?

Pensez d'un outfit "grunge" - j'imagine qu'il ne consiste pas de plis, des espadrilles compensées ou de la couleur jaune? Cependant, ils sont tous super tendance cette saison et vu qu'on célèbre toujours les nineties (AKA le grunge), je voulais porter de la couleur jaune dans un look grunge.

Je pense que ce look marche très bien grâce le fil jaune qui est dans le tartan. Le fil est aussi la raison pour laquelle, au début, j'avais pensé mettre ma jupe/short trapèze grunge/sixties (trop d'éléments!!) avec ce haut mignon avec des détails de plis de Zara. Les sections vertes foncées et le motif à carreaux de la jupe/short amènent les éléments "grunge" à ce look et ils contrastent parfaitement contre la couleur jaune vive, mieux qu'une jupe noire et simple.

Je vous avoue que j'avais presque mis mes Dr Martens préférés pour être sûr que ce look est assez "grunge" mais aujourd'hui je casse les règles en mettant mes espadrilles estivales jaune (encore). De toute façon, le ras-de-cou noir super nineties et le rouge à lèvres chair foncé surpassent cette choix de chaussures féminines.

Que pensez-vous de la couleur jaune en mode "grunge"? Vous mettriez plutôt des espadrilles ou des Dr Martens?
