Indian Summer

Location: Parc de Barceloneta, Barcelona

As a nod to this Indian summer we are having and as an ode to real summer which has officially come to an end, I am sharing one last summery outfit. Lewis and I shot this look spontaneously, on 35mm film, while on one of our early morning strolls in Barcelona a few months ago. I absolutely love the look of these photos - the light is perfectly golden and the colours are beautifully enhanced by the quality of film photography. I have already spoken about my love for shooting outfits on film in MONDAY'S POST, so to avoid repeating myself, let's just say this is something I want to do a lot more of.

This outfit is just what I need for this up and down weather we have been having recently - just add a little cami top under the shirt for layering options on those hotter days. This gingham shirt is one of my favourites, with its cropped sleeves and loose fit, it is such a versatile summer shirt. Worn casually over my Levi's denim shorts and paired with Converse, this makes for the perfect summer - or Indian summer - look.

Right. Now I am ready for woolly jumpers, faux fur coats and lots of boots now please, thnx.

What are wearing during this Indian summer? Are you fed up of the heat (and your summer wardrobe) and just want to get stuck into autumn?

YouTube: ASOS Haul And Try On Part One

Happy Sunday everyone! Today on YouTube I am back with a good, old fashioned ASOS haul video. I recently did a HUGE ASOS order so I have decided to split this haul into two videos. Here is the first featuring the more summery items and please tune back in in two weeks for part two talking about more transitional pieces as by then we will be moving out of summer territory, sob.

Alternative Summer Occasion Outfit

Dress - ASOS, Shoes - ASOS, Socks - TOPSHOP (old), SIMILAR, Choker - ASOS (sold out), Clutch - vintage, SIMILAR
Location: Redland, Bristol

Pink is not a colour that you will have seen me wear very often. That is not because I do not like pink but more so because I do not think it suits my skin tone. However, when I came across this Reclaimed Vintage dress on ASOS, I loved its tiered ruffle skirt, plunging V neckline and tied waistband so much that I thought I would take a chance.

Thankfully, the risk paid off and I absolutely love the pink/peach hue, although I had toughen up this girly dress with some black and gold accessories. Following last week's ALTERNATIVE SUMMER WEDDING outfit post, today's look is one that I considered wearing as a wedding guest but then decided that this would be more suited to evenings out or summer occasions such as friends' birthdays, posh BBQs or end of year prom.

As always with low-cut necklines, I am wearing a choker. This black satin one with a chunky gold stripe incidentally gave me the colour scheme for this outfit - pink, black and gold. To ensure that all my accessories featured black and gold together, I wore my favourite gold lurex ankle socks with black suede block heel pumps and finished off the look with a black leather clutch with gold detailing.

Are you going to any special events this summer? What will you be wearing?

Alternative Summer Wedding

Shirtdress - ZARA, Shoes - ASOS (sold out, similar via TOPSHOP), Bag - borrowed
Location: Redland, Bristol

On Saturday I attended the wonderful wedding of Lewis’ sister Martha back in our hometown of Bristol. Ever since the engagement, I had been scouring every online retailer and popping into shops to find the perfect wedding outfit.

If you watched yesterday’s NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO, you will know that I created and filmed three wedding outfit options with pieces from Topshop, Zara and ASOS to help me decide what to wear to this British summer wedding.

I had not been to a wedding since my mum’s back in 2013 – where I was a bridesmaid and had little control over my outfit – so I was excited to create a look that was a bit alternative. The classic LBD and stiletto heels outfit is not my style so when I came across this casual-meets-chic, girl-meets-boy shirtdress in Zara, I knew this could be the one. Of course the weather can be unpredictable in England but luckily we were set for a dry day and thankfully my summery shirtdress and flatform espadrilles combo paid off.

Are you going to any weddings this summer? What style/pieces will you be rocking?

YouTube: Summer Wedding Outfit Haul | Topshop, Zara & ASOS

Yesterday I went to the beautiful wedding of Lewis' sister Martha. Of course I had lots of ideas about what I could wear to a British weather at the beginning of June (weather issues alert!). So I ordered some stuff and filmed myself styling up three pieces from Topshop, Zara and ASOS to try and decide what to wear!

Have a watch, get some inspiration and wait until the end where I reveal which outfit I wore yesterday!

Heart print skirt - MOTEL ROCKS, Polo neck top - TOPSHOP, Boots - ASOS, Hat - KILO SHOP, Watch - DANIEL WELLINGTON
Location: Passeig d'Isabel II, Barcelona

I bought this super cute heart print mini skirt back in February and it has just been sitting patiently in my wardrobe ever since for temperatures to rise, the poor thing. Well spring (or even summer) has truly sprung here in Barcelona and in my eyes, getting your pins out is definitely acceptable.

Due to the skirt's A-line shape and fun motif, I knew instantly that I wanted to create a sixties look. Naturally, I paired the skirt with a white polo neck t-shirt top and finished it off with my slouchy baker boy hat and trusty ankle boots.

I absolutely love this skirt and I think it is going to be super wearable going through spring and into summer. It is easy and comfortable to wear during the day in the city but thanks to its wrap around style, it will be great to throw on to go to the beach - like a sassy sarong if you will.

How would you style this adorable heart print skirt?

Travel: Stockholm Photo Diary

View of central Stockholm
Me in Djurgården park in Stockholm with Kanken rucksack
Hej hej! Hello! I'm back from a wonderful week long trip to Sweden and I am excited to share lots of photos and travel tips with you. Discovering new parts of this wonderful world is one of my favourite things so I really enjoy putting together these posts! So without further ado, welcome to part one of (probably) four Sweden posts - a photo diary of the super cool capital, Stockholm.

Pastel coloured houses in Sodermalm, Stockholm
Buildings in Sodermalm, Stockholm
We spent most of our time in the much hyped area of Sodermalm and I can certainly see what all the fuss is about. It's really chilled, with lots of space  and we loved exploring it's little backstreets and alleyways. We stumbled across a nice walkway in Mariaberget - an area in north west Sodermalm - where there are aaaamazing views over Stockholm! And of course, no area would be complete without some awesome places to eat and there certainly is in Sodermalm. Keep your eyes peeled for my foodie post coming up!
Where to hang out in Sodermalm, Vita Bergen park, Stockholm
Vita Bergen park in Stockholm
The Vita Bergen park in Sodermalm, right next to the buzzing Skånegatan, is a lush haven on a hill with views over the city and a clear hangout favourite for young Swedes on summer evenings. It's like a little community up high with classic Swedish cabin style houses and its own church!
Coloured streets in Gamla Stan, Stockholm
Living in the white city of Paris, I was completely taken by the gorgeous pastel and rustic hues in Stockholm. The little narrow streets in the central island of Gamla Stan is lovely for just strolling around. Make sure you look up!
Places to visit in Stockholm - Stadshuset city hall
View of Sodermalm, Stockholm
Me in the courtyard of Stadshuset city hall Stockholm
Architecture of Stadshuset city hall Stockholm
Across the water from my beloved Sodermalm is the laid-back and mainly residential area of Kungsholmen, in which we had a lovely evening stroll towards its main attraction - Stadshuset, the city hall. The building is beautiful, both from outside by the harbour and inside the impressive courtyard. There are also awesome views of Sodermalm from Kungsholmen.
Blue gate entrance for Djurgården park island in Stockholm
House boats on Stockholm harbour
Stockholm is made up of about 14 islands, each connected by bridges and ferries and each with their own character and uniqueness. Djurgården island is one massive park, which is a great place to escape to. It also houses many of the city's famous museums, including Skansen the world's largest outdoor museum and…the ABBA museum! God I so wanted to go but I couldn't persuade the other half to spend 20€ on looking at Abba costumes and experiencing what it might be like to be the fifth member of Abba. Maybe next time eh?!

I hope you have enjoyed the first instalment of my Sweden posts! If you are considering a trip over to Sweden or even just Stockholm, I say DO IT! The people are so friendly and it's so beautiful yet not too touristy, which are some key ingredients for a great holiday! For some more tips, stay tuned for a mini foodie guide, shopping advice in Stockholm and a post on the beautiful nature in Stockholm's archipelago.

Salut!
