Christmas Gift Guide | The Fashion Addict

Christmas gift ideas guide for the fashion addict fashionista
URBAN OUTFITTERS KNIT, URBAN OUTFITTERS BRATOPSHOP NOVELTY SOCKS, ALEX MONROE BEE NECKLACE, ALEX MONROE STRING RING, RAY-BAN ROUND SUNGLASSES

Hello and welcome back to this Christmas gift guide series! Today's theme is one that is very familiar on this blog - fashion (make sure you check out yesterday's gift ideas for the HOME BIRD). Whether your special someone lives and breathes fashion or just enjoys a treat once in a while, I think that fashion-based presents are so accessible and can leave the receiver feeling fabulous.

Knitwear is something that I get more and more excited about every winter - does that mean I'm getting old?! - and it is the perfect gift to give at this time of year as it can be used right now! I absolutely love this super soft one from URBAN OUTFITTERS with its bang-on-trend blush pink colour and clashing navy stripe detail down the sleeve. Also from Urban Outfitters is this sparkly two tone triangle bra, which will keep the party spirit going underneath your threads until summer comes and it can be rocked under a mesh top.

Now let's talk details. Any fashion addict knows that an outfit can be made with the right accessories and Christmas is the perfect time to update someone's collection. For a tight budget or as stocking fillers, you simply cannot go wrong with novelty socks. TOPSHOP have a great selection of socks with everything from cartoon prints to frills and sparkles and you can get three pairs for just £8!

If you can spend a bit more, look no further than RAY-BAN sunglasses as they are an absolute staple in any wardrobe. My current favourite are these sixties/seventies style round ones, which will make the perfect gift, even if they probably can't use them properly for a few months! And finally, I've included a couple of jewellery pieces as this is an absolute classic Christmas gift. Check out ALEX MONROE for gorgeous nature-inspired jewellery - I received this cute bumblebee necklace and gorgeous string ring a few years ago now and they are still some of my favourites!

See you tomorrow for day three of this Christmas gift guide series!

Fashion On 35mm Film

Fashion on film - experimenting with film photography for outfit posts
My love for photography truly began when I studied analog photography for A-level but because of the ease and cheapness of digital, I have only been sporadically taking film photos...until now. I had been toying with the idea of trying film photography for an outfit post for a while and finally took the plunge this summer. We did not even take any digital back-ups because I wanted to be fully committed to this experiment and I was confident enough in the art and in my photographer that I thought they were not needed - and I was right. These days we are too spoilt by being able to shoot hundreds of photos, pick our favourites and edit them to perfection and although this is extremely convenient, sometimes I wonder - where is the beauty in that? Even - what is the art of that? So I thought I would strip things back, take just eight outfit photos - all of which you see here and have not been edited - and try fashion blogging the way our mothers would have done it, if such a thing had existed back in the 80s.

I am absolutely chuffed with these photos. With just eight photos to play with, I had to really pose and there was the danger that these photos wouldn't look natural but I don't think that is the case at all! In fact, I almost like that in the third photo down I am mid-blink as this makes things more real.

I love the aesthetic of film - its vintage grain, different colours and perfectly imperfect out of focus blur - and it is certainly something that I want to incorporate more frequently onto this blog. I have another mini film outfit post coming later in the week that we shot one beautiful morning in Barcelona and after that I have to get shooting in Montreal!

Let's talk fashion now because this is an outfit post after all! I have already posted a summery outfit featuring this WHITE BLOUSE but this is a much more transitional look that I have been craving oh so much recently. I always think that white blouses look so great just tucked into a pair of jeans and today I have finished the outfit with my favourite silver boots to make this look a little more special for the film!

What do you think of film photography? Would you like to see outfits shot on film become a regular feature on Fashion Et Moi?

Fashion on film - experimenting with film photography for outfit posts

YouTube: Summer Wedding Outfit Haul | Topshop, Zara & ASOS

Yesterday I went to the beautiful wedding of Lewis' sister Martha. Of course I had lots of ideas about what I could wear to a British weather at the beginning of June (weather issues alert!). So I ordered some stuff and filmed myself styling up three pieces from Topshop, Zara and ASOS to try and decide what to wear!

Have a watch, get some inspiration and wait until the end where I reveal which outfit I wore yesterday!

Location: Estacio de Francia carpark, Barcelona

I have been looking for a nice printed blouse for a while and although I see others looking awesome wearing blouses, it can be hard to find exactly the right print. Even though this top is technically classed as a "tee", I see it more as a blouse without buttons thanks to its material, ruffle detailing and, of course, that gorgeous print.

As soon as I saw it, I had to have it and perhaps that is just how it should be when buying printed blouses. I instantly found the print super interesting - bold sixties florals with stripes, which combines two of my favourite prints.

Today I have styled it in keeping with its retro print and ruffles, with my favourite suede A-line skirt and some ankle boots. I really like this silhouette; how the boxy blouse is loose on top but pulled in tight at the waist by the skirt that is perfectly shaped to flatter my figure.

FYI, thanks to the blouse's modern t-shirt shape, it also looks great with jeans, be they boyfriend or skinny as I tested out in my latest haul and try on video which is linked below.

I hope you have had a happy Monday!

Location: Passeig d'Isabel II, Barcelona

I bought this super cute heart print mini skirt back in February and it has just been sitting patiently in my wardrobe ever since for temperatures to rise, the poor thing. Well spring (or even summer) has truly sprung here in Barcelona and in my eyes, getting your pins out is definitely acceptable.

Due to the skirt's A-line shape and fun motif, I knew instantly that I wanted to create a sixties look. Naturally, I paired the skirt with a white polo neck t-shirt top and finished it off with my slouchy baker boy hat and trusty ankle boots.

I absolutely love this skirt and I think it is going to be super wearable going through spring and into summer. It is easy and comfortable to wear during the day in the city but thanks to its wrap around style, it will be great to throw on to go to the beach - like a sassy sarong if you will.

How would you style this adorable heart print skirt?

Christmas Gift Ideas: The Fashionista, Part 1

Accessories Christmas Wishlist
Gold Cross Body Bag - MONKI
70s Choker - ASOS
Bobble Riding Cap - via ASOS
Backpack - KANKEN
Pompom Charm - TOPSHOP
Star Socks - ASOS
Sunglasses - RAY BAN

Hello December! Christmas is just around the corner so I have put together a little series of gift ideas grouped in themes. I'm kicking that off today with The Fashionista, Part 1 and accessories. Now admittedly these are not just gift ideas but also a personal wishlist. Even though I do believe that accessories can make an outfit, they are not always the first thing that I would choose to spend my money on so I think they can be great Christmas presents. Here you have a range of options to suit your budget - from the little touches like the star socks or pompom charm, to statement bags and investment piece like the Ray Ban sunnies and Daniel Wellington watch.

I hope that has helped get the present juices going (sorry did that sound a bit weird?) and stay tuned tomorrow for Part 2 of the Fashionista - clothes!

It is no secret that I love shoes and this season it is boots in particular that I am obsessing over! Here are my top picks for AW15 that I will be struggling to choose from come pay day next week. I have just bought myself some classic suede-will-go-with-everything boots (which will be featured very soon on 'ere) but it is just not enough. I definitely think I am going to get some fun, disco, shiny boots for the party season and the burgundy leather TOPSHOP ones are heavenly! Too many boots, too little time. Sigh.

Which are your favourite?

Soupir.

Lesquelles sont vos préférées?

Location: Vaxholm harbour, Sweden

I'm not usually one for a midi skirt but I find this one really flattering, comfortable and super casual for exploring on holiday in Sweden. Of course it's an absolute bonus that it's striped - a print that I have a ongoing love affair with, that I cannot see ending anytime soon. I kept it simple pairing this blue and white pinstripe skirt with black and white accessories annnd this silver belt, just well, because.

I've got lots more posts planned from my trip to Sweden including a mini guide on places to eat, vintage shopping in Stockholm and tips for exploring Sweden's archipelago region. So keep that finger on refresh ;)

Sois patient! ;)

Hello lovelies! Sorry it has been a while - I have been non-stop this past week with visitors and lots of fun happenings in Paris, like doing a clothing fair that my friend organised and jumping around to an Irish brass band playing awesome noughties covers at Fête de la Musique.

Ok, so after that little catch up, we can get back to today's outfit. Let's face it - woollen gilets aren't exactly at the top of every girls' wishlist. They're pretty grandma but when I saw this one with it's amazing seventies pattern for just 1€, I thought I'd give it a go and….I actually love this look! It's a great way to do summer layering when it's a bit nippy and in the winter I'll wear the gilet over a frilly blouse for even more modern grandma/seventies vibes. Peace out guys.

Bisous.
