YouTube: Summer Monochrome Lookbook

Happy Sunday everyone! Over the past few weeks I have been putting together a SUMMER MONOCHROME LOOKBOOK to show that although I love bright hues and pastel colours come summertime, you still cannot go wrong with the odd black and white outfit.

PFW: What I Wore 2

Motel Shirt Dress (c/o) / Doc Martens / Topshop tassel socks / Boutique backpack / Mac 'So Chaud' lipstick

Location: Palais de Tokyo, Paris

For Sunday of Paris Fashion Week I sported the tailored monochrome look with red Mac lips to add a pop of colour. When I first received my Motel package of goodies for fashion week I was worried this shirt dress was going to look huge but I love it! It's actually really flattering (read: I can hide any food I have just scoffed) and comfortable. Lewis maintains it looks like a lab coat but he is full of silly things to say about fashion.

I toughed up the look with my trusty Docs and these cute tassel socks from Topshop! The paps and street style photographers went mad for this look, which was really exciting and overwhelming! What do you guys think?

Culottes & Crochet

Vintage suede culottes / eBay top / Vintage crochet gilet / Topshop belt (old) / Nike Free 5.0 trainers

A great transitional outfit for this burst of nice weather we have been having in Paris. I love the masculine shape and cut of these suede culottes, which go perfectly with my bright kicks (and have you spotted I have matching nails too?!). One reason I will be sad to see summer go is that I will no longer be able to wear crochet, a style that I have fallen in love with this season.

Summer Monochrome

I've just got back from a two week holiday in the South of France, which was beautifully relaxing and filled with lots of wine and cheese (my favourites). I love this monochrome summer evening look - featuring my new jellies, which I just can't stop wearing! This is the outfit I wore for a lovely dinner to celebrate my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary, which is great because the skirt is perfect for hiding all the food I ate!

Monochrome and Brights

Forever 21 trousers (similar here) / eBay top / Nike trainers

If you're going to wear cigarette trousers this season, they have to be patterned monochrome in my opinion. I picked up these Forever 21 babies in a vintage shop, of course. I've paired them with a simple black top and my bright Nikes, which, as I've said before, look great with a monochrome outfit.

Monochrome

Top - H&M (old) / Culottes - Asos / Boots - Choies

So that's it, the sun has gone in so let's get back to one of my favourite trends of the season: monochrome. I have always been a fan of black and white, so much so that in my first year of uni my friend jokingly criticised me for only wearing those colours! Since then I have expanded to wearing more colours and love brightening up outfits with block prints. Monochrome is such a simple but effective trend and I couldn't resist these culottes when I saw them on Asos. I love them because they're so easy to wear, they're comfortable and bang on trend. 

As for the cut out boots, I think they are just a genius design which are perfect for a British summer as well as winter. Most of the cut out boots in your high street shops have silver or chrome buckles whereas I favour gold, so when I found these on Choies, there was no way I wouldn't buy them!

I wore this outfit down to the Bristol Harbour Festival on a very wet Saturday. Watch out for my full post on that event coming soon!
