Spring Sunday

eBay top / Vintage trousers / Vintage coat / Converse boots / Rayban sunglasses

Yesterday, Lewis and I thought we would make the most of the free public transport this weekend, due to the extremely high pollution levels in Paris, and make a trip out of the city. In 45 minutes we were in the beautiful town of Fontainebleau where we relaxed in the gardens of the Castle, having a picnic, feeding the ducks and going for stroll. It was really picturesque.

This casual outfit is perfect for a relaxing Sunday like this. The trousers are so comfortable and loose that they are great for this transitional weather. Of course I love the fact that they are floral too, which is going to be huge this Spring/Summer.

What do you think of this outfit?

Izzie x

Pastels, Pastels, Pastels

Missguided fluffy jumper / Vintage coat / Vintage skirt / Topshop boots (old) / Rucksack from Parisian Boutique / Vintage baker boy hat
(All vintage from Kilo Shop)

Pastel colours are going to be a massive trend this Spring/Summer and I am completely on board. In fact I think it looks great wearing pastels at this time of year, as a sort of beckoning for Spring to come! This outfit features two pieces that I have been pining after for far too long. This Missguided fluffy jumper is just what I have been looking for and I am so happy to finally have found my perfect backpack!

Trainer Trend

Images c/o ootdmagazine and stylecarrot

Working in a vintage shop means that I am able to observe many different styles of the customers and therefore pick up on emerging trends. Over the past month I have seen many people wearing trainers with proper styled outfits. No, I am not talking about Converse or Vans but actual running trainers, the brands of choice being Nike and New Balance. The young, stylish and chic Parisians are pairing their usual black coloured outfits with bright multi-coloured trainers and I think it looks fab. It is a trend that has been seen on the catwalks recently, with the likes of Cara Delavigne sporting (geddit?!) couture trainers in Chanel’s Haute Courture show last month and Mark Fast putting his models in gold creeper trainers at London Fashion Week. It is a trend that I can definitely get on board with because I love being comfortable and stylish at the same time: it’s win win!

Izzie x

Velvet Stroll

Shirt - vintage St. Michael / Leggings - Topshop / Boots - Topshop (old) / Coat - vintage / Chain necklace - vintage / Bee necklace - Alex Monroe

Having celebrated New Year with a teetotaller (he did actually agree to half a bottle of bubbly and felt the effects!) I felt well enough to venture out to explore some of the cute backstreets of Montmartre as recommended in guide book 'Secret Paris', which I was given for Christmas. Whilst down one cul-de-sac I made Lewis take some outfits photos because it was such a great setting. I love this velvet shirt that my sister gave me for Christmas. It's so soft and it's great because it's comfortable but also looks smart!

Izzie x

Happy New Year!

Dress - vintage / Coat - vintage / Boots - Choies

This is what I wore last night for New Year's Eve in Paris and these photos were shot today on my street! I bought this dress for about €2 from Kilo Shop where I work (the coat is also from there!) and I love its blue/silver colour and how it is longer at the back. It is quite a 1920s look, which is one of my favourite fashion eras.

Lewis and I had a chilled one cooking a nice dinner before heading up to the Sacre Coeur with the hope of seeing some fireworks going off over the city. Instead, we spent the build up to midnight in a massive crowd which cars were trying to drive through with the drivers getting very mad, it was pretty funny. Paris is a let down in comparison to other cities when it comes to fireworks! To set the record straight about fireworks in Paris at New Year - there are barely any. There are none set off at the Eiffel Tower as many people think, it just sparkles at midnight which it does every day on the hour. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty sight if you haven't seen it before but just as a warning.

I hope everyone had a great time! Here's to 2014!

Izzie x

What I am wearing to Amsterdam Fashion Week with Fashion Chick

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Fashion Chick inviting me to create a couple of looks for their latest competition! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Amsterdam Fashion Week, Fashion Chick are giving the opportunity for a lucky blogger from the UK, USA, Germany, France and, of course, the Netherlands, a chance to represent their country at the said fashion week in January 2014. Exciting stuff! This competition sounds like a dream come true if you ask me! I've been to Amsterdam once, absolutely loved it and have been dying to go back ever since!

I thought I would do something a bit different and create two different looks: one vintage outfit to show that even on a budget you can look fabulous at fashion week! And a wishlist of the look I might choose if money was no object.

All vintage except Asos shoes: Skirt - €6 / Top - €9 / Coat - €10

I know what you're thinking: what a steal! This outfit cost less than €30, which proves Paris vintage shops are where bargain dreams are made! I bought the top and skirt from Kilo Shop, where I work. The photos don't really show this but the top has gold sparkly thread running through it and I think this looks great with the dogtooth-esque red skirt. In January I would need a nice warm coat so I choose one of my favourite finds in a while: my textured fluffy coat, which is bang on trend. A great comfy and wintery outfit perfect for Amsterdam Fashion Week, which does not break the bank and I would have no fear of bumping into someone else wearing the same!

Jumpsuit - Topshop / Coat - The White Pepper / Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell / Backpack - The Cambridge Satchel Company / Initial necklace - Alex Monroe / Fur hat - Topshop

For my wishlist look I have chosen this lovely black jumpsuit complete with bang on trend black and white check coat from The White Pepper, which is a brand I wish I could afford so it just had to feature! Having attended London Fashion Week in September, I know that it is important to be comfy as well as stylish! That's why these Jeffrey Campbells are perfect - they look great and they're not too heeled (I am terrible at heels!). In a matching maroon colour, this satchel backpack is great for carrying all the essentials and it looks really professional too! And to finish the outfit off, I would wear an initial necklace by my favourite jeweller Alex Monroe and a grey faux fur hat, to keep the ears warm in chilly January!

Fingers crossed that I win!

La Belle Montmartre

Today in Paris was so beautiful! It was first day of wall to wall sunshine since I arrived so I went for a stroll around my area, Montmartre. It is such a picturesque area of the city and I took to the less touristy backstreets with my camera in hand.

Shirt - vintage / Jeans - H&M (old) / Chelsea Boots - Dune (old) / Coat - vintage / Hat - vintage

Blue skies and sunshine meant that it was cold so I wrapped up warm in my latest vintage find, a black textured fur coat that bought yesterday for just €10! I will be doing a guide to vintage shopping in Paris because it really is the best city for cheap vintage shops!

These outfit photos were taken down a cute cul-de-sac consisting of houses, which is unusual for Paris and its rows of dominant Haussmann buildings.

Et voilà, some of the beautiful photos from my walk. In other news, yesterday in the Marais I was asked to pose for a Street Style photo and then straight afterwards I spotted French hotty Clémence Poésy crossing the road!

Kilt

Kilt - vintage / Top - H&M (old) / Leather jacket - Asos (old) / Cut out boots - Choies

Being a tartan lover, as soon as a saw this kilt, I knew I had to have it. There are lots of kilts in the shops at the moment so I am glad that the one I own will not be exactly the same as everyone else's! It looks like a genuine Scottish one as it is a proper wrap around kilt! I love the contrast between the smooth front panel and the pleated back as well as the fringe down the side at the front. I also really like the length of it, any shorter and it would look like a slutty school girl skirt!

It looks great with this bodycon top or, alternatively, a crop top. Finish the look off with a denim or leather jacket - personally I think wearing all black with red tartan is a winner because it means the print stands out.

Izzie x

P.S. Sorry that the photos are quite dark - lighting is going to be a problem with winter around the corner and not getting back from work until 5:30pm!

Bargain Hunting

Dress - vintage / Bomber Jacket - vintage / Shoes - Asos / Lace Cycling Shorts - H&M (old- similar here) / Necklace - vintage / Scrunchie - eBay

I have had quite a successful haul this week! First of all these fab shoes arrived from Asos. I am currently obsessed with Doc Martens and have decided to invest in a pair of the boots this winter but cannot justify buying the shoes too - too much money! So, I have settled with these great look-a-like ones from Asos, which were in the sale for just £22.50 - perfect for a bargain hunter like me! I picked up this bomber jacket from a local vintage shop. I love its retro print and oversized-ness! and it is perfect for autumn.

I also went to a flea market at the weekend, which is one of my favourite things to do. I love having a rummage, searching for bargains and imagining what furniture and trinkets I would pick out if I had my own house to decorate. I found some cute gloves with fur cuffs for just £4, as well as this great gold necklace, which was less of a bargain at £16 but I just could not resist!

If you like what you read, I'd love to hear from you and please follow me on bloglovin'

P.S. Can you spot my little friend in the photos?!
