Retro Nike

Serious 90s inspiration went into this outfit. I know it's all about the 70s right now, and I love it, but I could never permanently turn my back on the decade that I grew up in. Slip dresses were my go-to item last summer and I have a feeling they aren't going anywhere for SS15. How cute is this one from Topshop with the interesting strap detail? I have wanted a vintage sports sweater for a while and this simple Nike one is super retro. I cut it to make it cropped, as often they're not the most flattering shape. And of course, it isn't the 90s without a cute choker.

Les années 90s m'ont donné l'inspiration pour ce outfit. Je sais que les années 70s sont en tendance et je kiffe, mais il ne faut pas oublier complètement l'époque dans laquelle j'ai grandi. L'été dernier, j'ai porté beaucoup de robes à bretelles et je pense que cet été sera pareil. Elle est trop mignon cette robe de Topshop avec ses bretelles intéressantes. Ca fait longtemps que je veux un sweat de sport vintage et ce pull de Nike est super rétro. Je l'ai coupé parce que les coupes ne sont pas toujours très flattantes. Et bien sûr, pour une tenue 90s, un ras-de-cou est un must-have!

Culottes & Crochet

Vintage suede culottes / eBay top / Vintage crochet gilet / Topshop belt (old) / Nike Free 5.0 trainers

A great transitional outfit for this burst of nice weather we have been having in Paris. I love the masculine shape and cut of these suede culottes, which go perfectly with my bright kicks (and have you spotted I have matching nails too?!). One reason I will be sad to see summer go is that I will no longer be able to wear crochet, a style that I have fallen in love with this season.

Monochrome and Brights

Forever 21 trousers (similar here) / eBay top / Nike trainers

If you're going to wear cigarette trousers this season, they have to be patterned monochrome in my opinion. I picked up these Forever 21 babies in a vintage shop, of course. I've paired them with a simple black top and my bright Nikes, which, as I've said before, look great with a monochrome outfit.

Pleats and Nikes

Asos Leather jacket (old) / eBay top / Vintage skirt / Nike Free trainers

Look at the colour of these Nikes! Aren't they amazing?! I wasn't going to succumb to the trainer trend because even though I think it looks great, I thought it might be quite short lived. But I could not resist these pastel-yet-bright baby blue beauties and who knows, maybe I'll start running now (nah, swimming and yoga is quite enough exercise!). 

Bright trainers look best paired with a simple, monochrome outfit so I styled mine with a leather jacket, my classic black crop top and my new vintage pleated cream skirt, which is perfect for Spring days and is so comfortable! The pleated skirt is the new skater skirt for SS14 and I am definitely on board!

Regardez la couleur de ces Nikes ! Ils sont grave magnifiques, non ?! Je n’allais pas succomber à la tendance de baskets parce que, même si je l’aime bien, je pensais qu’elle peut être de courte durée. Cependant, je ne pouvais pas résister ces beaux baskets bleu ciel, une couleur pastel mais vive. Et qui saura, peut-être je commencerai à courir maintenant (non, faire de la natation et du yoga suffit !).

Je pense qu’il est mieux de porter des baskets d’une couleur vive avec un look simple et monochrome. Alors, j’ai mis les miens avec une veste en cuir, mon haut court noir et classique et ma nouvelle jupe plissée crème vintage, qui est parfaite pour les jours de printemps et elle est si confortable ! La jupe plissée est la nouvelle jupe skateuse pour printemps-été 14 et je suis d'accord!

Trainer Trend

Working in a vintage shop means that I am able to observe many different styles of the customers and therefore pick up on emerging trends. Over the past month I have seen many people wearing trainers with proper styled outfits. No, I am not talking about Converse or Vans but actual running trainers, the brands of choice being Nike and New Balance. The young, stylish and chic Parisians are pairing their usual black coloured outfits with bright multi-coloured trainers and I think it looks fab. It is a trend that has been seen on the catwalks recently, with the likes of Cara Delavigne sporting (geddit?!) couture trainers in Chanel’s Haute Courture show last month and Mark Fast putting his models in gold creeper trainers at London Fashion Week. It is a trend that I can definitely get on board with because I love being comfortable and stylish at the same time: it’s win win!

Comme je travaille dans une friperie, je vois des tendances émergentes en observant tous les styles différents des clients. Pendant le dernier mois, j’ai vu beaucoup de gens portant des baskets avec les looks stylés. Non, je ne parle pas de Converse ou Vans, mais les baskets pour faire du jogging et on choisit soit Nike soit New Balance. Les Parisiens jeunes, stylés et chic portent leurs looks noirs habituels avec les baskets vifs et multicolores et je le trouve géniale ! Elle est une tendance qu’on a vue sur les estrades récemment, car Cara Delavigne a porté des baskets coutures à la défilé d’haute couture de Chanel le mois dernier et Mark Fast a fait porter ses mannequins les baskets dorés et compensés à Fashion Week de Londres. J’aime bien être confortable et chic au même temps donc je peux surement soutenir cette tendance gagnante-gagnante!
