PFW: Favourite AW15 Collections

Moon Young Hee
I was so excited to be invited to the AW15 Moon Young Hee show on the final day of Paris Fashion Week and I was not disappointed. Moon Young Hee's style is simplistic yet striking and the collection is gorgeous; mixing loose layered looks and beautifully straight-cut mini dresses. I love the choice of block colours from white, black and silver to classic autumnal colours dark green, navy and burgundy. The styling was perfect in my eyes, with the models wearing knee length socks and brogues with the mini dresses.

Maison Margiela
How bloody amazing is John Galliano's first collection for Maison Margiela?!! It's a perfectly sexy mix of lots of textures and materials which look incredible together. I love the long suede trench coats, which bring current 70s vibes together with classic tailoring. As you know I love anything mesh and velvet so it was a delight to see lots of this and it being styled together. Maybe a man of controversy but John Galliano sure can design clothes!
---

I am absolutely in love with this collection. Dries van Noten has managed to put together some very contrasting trends and, of course, pull it off. The utility and khaki trend comes through in form of baggy cargo pants, belted trench coats and A-line dresses but when paired with beautiful pastel patterns and tapestry-style materials, the looks are just quite special. Of course nothing is complete without coloured fur and sequins so he's thrown them in too, perfection.
---

70s Groupie

All items vintage - c/o Kilo Shop / Mac 'Diva' lipstick
Similar items:

I have been loving the 70s comeback this season with flares, platforms and lots of suede. I was thrilled to find this cute suede skirt whilst working and I knew I had to put together a look using it. With my fluffy faux fur gilet and square toe boots, I feel just like a 70s rock star groupie in this outfit. I wish.

---

PFW: Days 1 & 2 Roundup

Vionnet presented a Greek inspired collection for SS15, using whites, beiges, greys with the odd pop of cobalt blue and black. The use of layered and over-lapping fabrics shows how togas inspired the collection. The models look like Greek Goddesses in the long, flowing gowns made of mesh, sheer fabrics, which makes the collection very powerful. Finally, I have to mention the shoes. Vionnet’s take on the gladiator sandal is just fantastic. The trainer trend is combined with long thick gladiator-esque straps for some looks and for others the straps are so thin they are barely visible. Love it.

For me Balenciaga's SS15 collection is just perfect as it incorporates most of the things I am mad about right now. The use of sheer and mesh fabrics with strong, scuba trims is a contrast that works really well. Once again I loved the monochrome and pastel colours, which seems a theme for SS15 – works for me! The tailoured floor length coats and hot pants are the cherry on the top of a wonderful cake.

The Modern Victorian vibes of Aganovich's SS15 collection are amazing, with lots of layered fabrics, ruffles and high collars, it seems this trend is going to continue from AW14 into next year. Again, I'm loving use of monochrome and red so this collection is right up my street.

The Guy Laroche collection is really varied so, overall, it is hard to decide what I think of it. There were certainly aspects that were not to my taste, such as the leather panel dresses at the start and the garish yellow and navy design on some of the dresses and skirts. However, I really like the 60s style mini length and cut of the dresses and skirts and the A-line shapes. My favourite pieces include the lace black dress with shirt collar, the navy dungarees and, of course, the embellished sequin slip dresses.

“There was no soundtrack to begin, just the chirp of birds tweeting - or was that in fact just the audience all heads down and finger tapping into the oblivion of their phones? And was this perhaps a reminder - if not on purpose but quite brilliantly by accident - about what tweeting used to mean? The sound of nature, not technology.” (Vogue.co.uk)

Dries Van Noten, I salute you. What a lovely back to nature and hippy collection, which is refreshing among the monochrome and pastel tailoured collections so far at PFW. With a mossy catwalk under foot, the models show off Van Noten’s bright yet forest-coloured pieces. Each outfits brings together at least 4 different and usually clashing colours, but it just works. Not only do the colours clash, so do the beautiful prints but perhaps that is what the back to basics message is all about - stop over thinking outfits and just go with it.

What are your favourite collections so far at Paris Fashion Week?

Sixties Inspiration

One of the things that I love about fashion is how previous trends always come around again with a slight update and my favourite revived trend this season has to be the Swinging Sixties. I have always loved the bright mini skirts, bold eye make up and beehive hair of the sixties so here are some inspiration images to get us even more in the mood for this trend. This season think bright pastel colours, bold faux furs and mini mini skirts, whether they be A-line or skater. I'm planning a sixties style outfit post soon featuring a gorgeous yellow mini dress so stay tuned for that. Peace.

P.S. I love Twiggy.

Red Sox

Vintage Red Sox t-shirt / Vintage skirt / Asos leather jacket (old) / Doc Martens shoes

Having a wardrobe crisis this morning, I grabbed Lewis' Red Sox tee and paired it with my cheerleader/tennis skirt and I love the result. This is me dabbling in the sports fashion trend, which I love but it is perhaps not naturally my style. So, I added my trusty Docs and leather jacket to toughen up the outfit.

About two years ago I was doing a classic North American road trip with Lewis and as we were going to see the Red Sox we decided to hunt down some t-shirts in Boston's thrift stores. For now, my navy one is residing back in Bristol but I'm definitely going to pick it up when next back!

Monochrome and Brights

Forever 21 trousers (similar here) / eBay top / Nike trainers

If you're going to wear cigarette trousers this season, they have to be patterned monochrome in my opinion. I picked up these Forever 21 babies in a vintage shop, of course. I've paired them with a simple black top and my bright Nikes, which, as I've said before, look great with a monochrome outfit.

Denim and Fishnet

Vintage dress / Vintage fishnet top / Asos shoes (old)

Today I'm rocking this casual 90s inspired outfit. I think this dress has already starred on the blog but it goes perfectly with the fishnet sleeves so I'm sure you guys don't mind! I bought this mesh top from a vintage shop for €2 and after a little DIY cutting here and there, it is ready for this winter to spring transition period.

Izzie x

Pleats and Nikes

Asos Leather jacket (old) / eBay top / Vintage skirt / Nike Free trainers

Look at the colour of these Nikes! Aren't they amazing?! I wasn't going to succumb to the trainer trend because even though I think it looks great, I thought it might be quite short lived. But I could not resist these pastel-yet-bright baby blue beauties and who knows, maybe I'll start running now (nah, swimming and yoga is quite enough exercise!).

Bright trainers look best paired with a simple, monochrome outfit so I styled mine with a leather jacket, my classic black crop top and my new vintage pleated cream skirt, which is perfect for Spring days and is so comfortable! The pleated skirt is the new skater skirt for SS14 and I am definitely on board!

Izzie x

Issey Miyake AW14 at Paris Fashion Week

On Friday I was lucky enough to attend the Issey Miyake AW14 show at the Espace Ephemère in the Tuileries gardens, which was the perfect setting for the show to come. The show was entitled Rhythmatic Forest as the collection is inspired by the pulse of forest life and the plants within it.

The show started with a guitarist and singer playing enchanting and hypnotic music at the top of the catwalk where from they continued to play for the entire show. Then came the models, dressed in simple clothes and carrying intriguing semi-circular coloured handbags. They stopped, opened the bags flat on the ground and produced a circular dress or jacket, which they then put on. This was scene 1 entitled ‘Tree Ring’ where the clothes were all designed to transform into compact circular shapes when placed on a flat surface. Just amazing.

The rest of the collection included lots of layers, textures, curves, metallic colours and a hell of a lot of pleats. The clothes looked fabulous on the catwalk because as the models walked, the clothes bounced and rippled beautifully thanks to the pleats. It was an amazing show and I’m already excited for AW14!

Izzie x

Pastels, Pastels, Pastels

Missguided fluffy jumper / Vintage coat / Vintage skirt / Topshop boots (old) / Rucksack from Parisian Boutique / Vintage baker boy hat
(All vintage from Kilo Shop)

Pastel colours are going to be a massive trend this Spring/Summer and I am completely on board. In fact I think it looks great wearing pastels at this time of year, as a sort of beckoning for Spring to come! This outfit features two pieces that I have been pining after for far too long. This Missguided fluffy jumper is just what I have been looking for and I am so happy to finally have found my perfect backpack!

Izzie x
